BB&O wins the U14 League by a Narrow Margin at Aldenham

BB&O U14s went into this fixture knowing that wins against Hertfordshire, who had won the league for several years, and Middlesex would secure the league title.  On a nail-biting day BB&O won against Middlesex but lost 6.5 - 5.5 to the hosts, meaning the title was decided on game points ("goal difference").  The emphatic win against Hertfordshire in the home fixture at Wexham Park early in the season proved to be decisive, and BB&O takes the trophy.  The pictures shows the Aldenham team, and Ben McFadden with the trophy.

A major factor this season has been our strength in depth.  We know the other counties can match us at the top of the order, but the strong "tail" is hugely valuable.  For the second time this season we fielded a team all with single-figure handicaps and they produced points all the way down the order.  As well as credit to the boys, our thanks also go to the BB&O County Coaches for their efforts.

In fairness Hertfordshire was missing some key players, and we know they will be strong again next year.  Thanks to them and the other counties for the great spirit between the players all year.
